Summer STEAM Program

ArtinaBoxCo.  had an excellent opportunity

to partner with OUFSD for a summer program during the month of July.

OUFSD Summer STEAM Program.

This was an summer enrichment program geared toward elementary school students, ages 5-10 years old, in the Ossining area. 

We collaborated with high school student mentors in order to engage and empower the community's student body.   

Our goals for the STEAM Program were to have Fun & Learn something new everyday with a hands-on interactive & playful approach.  We wanted to Spark an interest in any if not all of the applied theories.  Build Confidence in each child.  We aimed to make the children Ask questions, to Wonder, ask Why & How?.  Through group activity we encouraged them to Be a team player.  Above all, we wanted to Expose the children to scientific theories and application in a fun and interesting way in order to plant seeds of interest.

STEAM is an acronym for the principles of Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math.

• Science: We experiment like scientists.
• Technology: We use specified methods to explore.
• Engineering: We construct.
• Art: We create.
• Math: We use numbers & relate them to our activities

Party-Goers will be entertained for 1 ½ hrs with party themed projects & games of your choice.  Cost$150.00

Let’s Go Tokyo

Simple Costumes: includes wig, kimono & light make-up

Origami Newsprint Project:  party-goers will make origami creations from newsprint and colorful printed paper

(3 options – easy medium hard will be available)

Candy Pick-up: children will play against each other using chopsticks to pick up a variety of candies

Photo-Op with Background: themed background where families can take picks of children in costume

Mad Scientist

Simple Costumes: includes apron, goggles & rubber gloves

Two Lab Experiments: Radio Active Goo

                                     Color Fade Filters

Science Lab Search (Scavenger Hunt): Children will have to find 10 things missing from the Lab.

Photo-Op with Background: themed background where families can take picks of children in costume

BackStage

Simple Costumes: includes hats, boas, ties & gloves

Project:  party-goers can “Make-a-Mask”- decorate a pre-made Paper Mache mask

Backstage Dash – teams race each other during a fast paced wardrobe change

Photo-Op with Background: themed background where families can take picks of children in costume

Time for Tea

Simple Costumes: includes proper tea attire (gloves, bags hats, pearls with table settings)

Project:  party-goers will make paper beads for a take home necklace or bracelet

Lady-Like Games including Hopscotch & Light game of Croquet

Summer Camp Success!

RECYCLED ART PUPPET THEATRE

For one week campers, learned creative techniques and brainstormed fantastic ideas to execute several puppets. They learned setting, background, stage production & and performed an end of session Puppet Show for family & friends.

Great fun & memories I hope will last a life time!

 What does the fox say?.........Fox shields made from corragated cardboard.

                                Portable puppet stages, Complete with origami finger puppets.

                                      Newsprint stick puppets with jointed arms &legs.

                       Folded Fortune teller hand puppets with recycable accessories.

           Hand-made beads from air drying clay. Painted & strung on ribbon for decoration.

Brainstorming & sketching out skit plans for puppet show.

Backdrop for Puppet theatre made from recycled scraps.
